Objective(s): To establish office expectations, organization, and procedures for daily operations.
Activities: During the first day, I would have my secretary help lay out and organize my belongings I will be unpacking. This way, she and I will have an understanding of where certain things are and how I like them organized. Secondly, my secretary and I will meet to discuss my expectations as well as protocol for people needing to speak with me in relation to my schedule/calendar.Resources: Perhaps a strong back and a dolly. In addition, blank files, labels, and office supplies.
First Week
Goal(s): To establish a relationship and an understanding of my expectation and philosophy with each Director, Deputy Superintendent, and Assistant Superintendent.
To establish a personal relationship with each School Board Member.
Objective(s): To learn about each of the members of my cabinet and school board member personally. To foster an environment of collaboration and trust among those I work directly with daily by building relationships.Activities: Individual meetings with each Director, Deputy Superintendent, and Assistant Superintendent.
Social gathering with food/music/fun with the Directors, Deputy Superintendent, and Assistant Superintendent. Separate social gathering with food/music/fun with the School Board Members and their spouse.
Resources: Location to meet. Food and entertainment such as music and games for social gatherings. First Month
Goal(s): To meet personally with each head campus principal.
Objective(s): To establish and foster a working relationship.To establish my expectations as a campus friendly environment as well as my educational expectations for teachers and students.
To gain an understanding of campus needs via principal feedback
Activities: Meeting with principals at their individual campus. Tour each campus. Resources: Copy of Student Handbook, copy of Campus Improvement Plan, copy of campus mission and vision statement, copy of district mission and vision statement.
First Year
Goal(s): Establish Professional Development trainings based on District initiatives and teacher needs.
Establish a relationship with the surrounding community.Objective(s): Using feedback provided by campus administrators, Professional Development training based on collaborative needs and new district initiatives will be established and conducted for all campus administrators.
Using teacher feedback as well as recent academic data from campus and district results, teachers will undergo relevant Professional Development training. Provide opportunities for community feedback via forums and events.
Start to develop the district budget based on community needs, staff feedback, collaboration with School Board, and initiatives based on data analysis. Activities: Conduct Professional Development training utilizing both district and outside resources for presentations. Provide relationship building opportunities among staff members. Open Houses/meet the staff night, open forums for community feedback.
Resources: Meeting locations for P.D. Contracted presenters, in-district presenters, microphone, computer, projector with screen, snacks and drinks provided throughout day, lunch provided for staff, and a basket supply consisting of pens, post-it-notes, and colored markers. Sign-in sheets.
